Rev. C.J. Greer was born
on the plains of Gillette,
Wyoming and was a
sheepherder and cowboy,
After returning home
from World War II, he and
his wife, Carrie, sold their
ranch and moved to
Springfield, Missouri, to
attend Bible college and
answer a call to become a
minister of the Gospel.
While pastoring they
started Elm Valley Goat
Dairy in Springfield. Later
they sold the goat dairy
and bought 40 acres in
Brighton, Missouri where
they founded Highway
Assembly of God. Rev.
Greer pastored Highway
Assembly for 40 years all
the while raising and
training Border Collies.
Pastor Greer has held
many Cow Dog rodeos at
his farm known as Greer's
40 Acres.
Today, Rev. Greer, the
Cowboy Preacher, still
trains Border Collies, still
enters dog trials, and still
attends Highway Assembly
of God in Brighton.
